About the North West Rail Link Project

The North West Rail Link Project is a priority rail infrastructure project for the NSW Government. The $8.3 billion project will open by the end of 2019. Eight new railway stations are proposed at: Cherrybrook, Castle Hill, Showground, Norwest, Bella Vista, Kellyville, Rouse Hill and Cudgegong Road. Also planned are 4,000 commuter car parking spaces. The rail link includes 15km of tunnels between Bella Vista and Epping – Australia’s longest rail tunnels. The first tunnel boring machine will be in the ground next year, as scheduled.
Tunneling Contract :
Thiess, John Holland and Dragados has been awarded the $1.15 billion tunnelling contract. The contract involves building 15 km of twin tunnels from Bella Vista to Epping – the longest railway tunnels to ever be built in Australia. The contract also includes excavation and civil works for five new stations at Cherrybrook, Castle Hill, Showground, Norwest and Bella Vista, and two service facilities.
Skytrain Contract :
Impregilo-Salini JV has been awarded the $340 million skytrain contract. This contract will involve building the 4 km skytrain between Bella Vista and Rouse Hill, along with other surface works like bridges, embankments and railway cuttings.
Operations, Trains and Systems Contract :
The NSW Government has announced that the Northwest Rapid Transit consortium has been selected as the operator to deliver the North West Rail Link’s operations contract. The consortium is made up of: MTR Corporation (Australia), John Holland, Leighton Contractors, UGL Rail Services and Plenary Group. This contract will involve building stations, car parks, supplying trains, installing tracks, converting the Epping to Chatswood rail link to rapid transit, as well as operating the new link.

Qualifications to help you get a foot in at the North West Rail Link Project
- Relevant Trade Qualifications and / or NSW Licences
- Occupational Health and Safety – Construction Induction (White Card)
- Australian Drivers Licences
- High Risk Work Licence for any required plant, eg. EWP, Forklifts, Mobile Crane, Loaders.
- Safely Working at Heights – for EWP workers
- Ability to pass Medical including Drug and Alcohol screening
- Dogging/Rigging/Scaffolding tickets
- CPR and First Aid Certificate

North West Rail Link Project Union Enterprise Bargaining Agreements
An Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA) is a collective industrial agreement between either an employer and a trade union acting on behalf of employees or an employer and employees acting for themselves.
At this stage of the project no EBA’s can be found, as they are found they will be uploaded into this article.
