Decoding the demand tables
MI – Mining, HI – Heavy Industry, EN – Energy, IN – Infrastructure, AG – Agriculture, CO – Commercial, DO – Domestic, OP – Operations / Production / Process, DN – Drilling, Blasting and Exploration (Onshore), DF – Drilling and Exploration (Offshore), MA – Maintenance, CN – Construction, SD – Shutdowns, PC – Projects and Capital Works
Green – High Demand, Orange – Medium Demand, Red – Low Demand
Note: Please remember this demand table is just a guide to give you the most bang for your buck, whilst trying to get your foot in the door. If you had your heart set on a certain occupation and it displays a red demand, don’t let us put you off. Just be aware of it and know that you may have to work harder, longer or smarter to get your way in and possibly to have a fall back plan. As we said the demand tables are just a guide, meaning they are a generalisation and will vary from project to project, site to site, location to location etc.
Dogger Jobs generally require you to perform the Dogging Operations Course (course less than 1 week). A Dogger attaches loads to the crane and is responsible for directing the lift, both in and out of the crane operator’s vision. A Dogger has to be vigilant about other people working under the load and objects that can, fall during or obstruct the path of the lift.
Rigger Jobs generally require you to perform the Basic, Intermediate and Advanced Rigging Course (each course less than 1 week). Riggers assemble and install rigging gear such as cables, ropes, pulleys and winches to lift, lower, move or position machinery, structural steel and other heavy objects by use of a crane. Often working in closely with Crane Operators and Doggers. They are usually also a Dogger themselves.
Scaffolder Jobs generally require you to perform the Basic, Intermediate and Advanced Scaffolders Licence to perform high-risk work (each course less than 1 week). Scaffolding is a temporary structure used to support people and materials. Scaffolds are required to enable workers safe access to work areas in relation to working from heights and access for long periods in places that EWP’s and man boxes can’t always gain good access to.
Tyre Fitter Jobs
Tyre Fitter Jobs generally require you to perform the Level II Automotive Mechanical (Tyre Fitter) (Traineeship). Tyre Fitters specialise in the removal, repair, maintenance and installation of tyres to rims and split rims.
Heavy Duty Tyre Fitter Jobs
Is a Tyre Fitter that has experience with Heavy Duty Farming, Civil and Mining Equipment with larger split rim applications.
Sand Blaster Jobs
Sand Blaster Jobs generally require you to perform the Prepare Surfaces by Abrasive Blasting (basic course). Sandblasting is used to clean and remove unwanted materials off surfaces of metal.
